On September 21, when word of comedian Raju Srivastava's passing spread 

around the nation, condolence messages began to flood in.

Akhilesh Yadav, the head of the Samajwadi Party, was the first to respond, saying: 

"It is regretful that Raju Srivastava is no longer with us. 

Despite coming from a low-income background, he made a name for himself in the 

world through talent and labour. He is one of a very small number of gifted comedians. 

I recall that when he joined SP, he wanted to run from Kanpur.

In the lead-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Srivastava was

certainly handed an SP ticket; however, he later returned it and
